Skytek Completes Successful Management and Support of MOSAiC Campaign for EUMETSAT

Skytek, a leading developer of space technology solutions, today announced the successful completion of their management and support of the MOSAiC measurement campaign for EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites. This critical campaign played a vital role in understanding how data from multiple radar spectrometers can be used to validate and develop satellite-based retrieval algorithms, ultimately contributing to a deeper understanding of climate change.

MOSAiC (Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate) stands as the largest polar expedition in history. Embarking on the German research icebreaker Polarstern, the endeavor involved hundreds of researchers from 20 countries drifting through the Arctic Ocean for a full year. This unprecedented expedition served as a platform to gather invaluable data about the intricate relationship between the Arctic and global climate change.

“Supporting MOSAiC has been an exceptionally rewarding experience,” stated Jarek Dobrzanski, Program manager.

“By managing and supporting the measurement campaign, we played a crucial part in harnessing the power of radar spectrometers to unlock critical insights into the Arctic’s role in global climate dynamics.”

The successful completion of this phase marks a significant contribution towards a deeper understanding of the Arctic’s role in shaping global climate patterns.
